Red Deer’s Most Fatal Attraction, the Zed Haunted House presented by Border Paving, is returning to Parkland Mall this fall. The always anticipated attraction will open on October 17 and running its final showing on Thursday October 31, giving two more days of terror than the event offered the previous two years. New scares and classic spooks are set to return as the event committee is hard at work planning out this frightening fundraiser.
The event will once again take place on the north side of the mall, at Entrance #5, off 67th Street right next to GoodLife Fitness. The event will be open from 6PM – 10PM each night, with some feature nights offering later hours. Returning feature nights include Opening Night presented by Border Paving on October 17, Black Out Night presented by Sunbelt Rentals on October 19, Midnight Madness presented by CarStar Red Deer on October 25, and Hallow’s Eve presented by Spirit Halloween on Halloween night. New to the attraction this year is Half-Price Thriller Tuesday presented by SERVUS Credit Union on Tuesday, October 22 where admission at the door is reduced to half price.
Weekend matinee showings presented by Servus Credit Union also return from 1-4 on Saturdays and Sunday during the event and once again offer a less intense atmosphere aimed at younger visitors.
“Last year, we had over 7,000 visitors and hope to welcome even more this year” said John Johnston, Youth HQ’s Community Engagement Manager and Zed Haunted House Event Manager. “Even at the same location as last year, we have some new scares and a new layout that will terrify even the most experienced horror fanatics and can’t wait for everyone to see this year’s attraction.”
The Zed Haunted House is the primary fundraising event in support of BGC Red Deer & District. This annual high profile community event operates during the final 13 days of October and attracts more than 7,000 visitors annually. With the tremendous support of business friends throughout the community and an army of volunteers contributing more than 8,000 hours every year this event continues to grow becoming an Alberta Tourism destination every fall. Youth HQ and the Zed Haunted House committee invite anyone looking for a terrifying and memorable experience to come check out the event this year.
Volunteer opportunities are also available for anyone interested. These include acting, make-up, building, teardown, and selling tickets in the lobby. Anyone interested in volunteering at the event is invited to contact Youth HQ’s Volunteer Resources Coordinator, Janessa, by email at [email protected] or by phone at 403-342-6500 ext. 132.
