The 31st edition Red Deer’s Most Fatal Attraction, the Zed Haunted House presented by Border Paving, was a tremendous success for BGC and Youth HQ, raising $99,500 for the charity. The 14-day event at Parkland Mall saw more than 6,000 visitors eager for a frightening experience.

Over 160 volunteers contributed more than 3,200 hours into the event. Through the United Ways Days of Caring, NOVA Chemicals sent 70 volunteer staff from NOVA that contributed 510 hours during the building set-up and take down of the attraction. Their efforts were a major reason for the success of the event. The amazing group of youth and adult volunteers that acted in the attraction, ran ticket sales, and worked in the lobby were a wonderful asset that helped ensure the event ran smoothly and efficiently.

“Putting on an event such as this requires an incredible amount of support from so many amazing volunteers and sponsors. It’s a challenge, especially after 31 years, to continue to create new chills and thrills for the paying public.” Said John Johnston, Youth HQ Community Engagement Manager. “Based on the feedback, we hit it out of the park this year. Thank you, Red Deer, for your continued support.”

This event would not be possible without the many sponsors and supporters. BGC and Youth HQ offer thanks to the major sponsors: Border Paving (Presenting Sponsor), Zed 98.9 (Title Sponsor and Media Partner), Nova Chemicals, Parkland Mall (Host sponsor), Servus Credit Union, (Matinee Sponsor), CMT Ventures, Red Deer CarStar, Sunbelt Rentals, Herc Rentals, Sound Travels, Dread Driving, BlueBird Storage, Eagle Builders, Family Pizza, West Jet Cares for Kids, and the many other sponsors and supporters who make this event happen. A special thanks also go out to the amazing volunteer planning committee for their dedication and commitment to ensuring this event went smoothly.
