The Youth and Volunteer Centre (YVC) has been serving youth and families in the Red Deer region for 40 years. Times have changed, but the need for healthy growth and development has never been more prevalent as we face the future together. To better reflect our organization and the services we offer, we are pleased to announce that we have officially changed our name to Youth HQ.

“Our new name, brand, and website are a reflection of our mission and belief that every youth has potential and that Youth HQ is their place. We want to thank the community that has allowed us to reach our 40-year milestone and for making it possible for us to develop programs and services that provide enriching opportunities for youth in central Alberta.”Kris Fleckenstein, Board Chair of Youth HQ

By rebranding to Youth HQ – introducing a fresh visual identity and launching a new website – we hope to gain greater public awareness of our programs and services like the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Camp Alexo, and the 49th Street Youth Shelter, but also present ourselves in a more approachable fashion for the children and youth who use, or may use, those services. This rebranding and web project began in August 2016 and was put together by Reaction, a local web development and marketing firm.

“This new identity will provide a framework for Youth HQ to build greater recognition within the community and create awareness around the important services they make possible. The use of bright colours, large text, and bold patterns create a friendly, approachable, and engaging look that supports the core messaging and speaks directly to the young audience they serve.”Mike Szyszka, Owner and Agency Director of Reaction

Our new mobile friendly website has some great features we hope you will explore. We have an event section for our primary fundraisers and other key events, and an area to view all of our programs and activities, both utilizing an easy to use filter system to find what you’re looking for. There’s also a quick crisis service reference for those in emergency and high stress situations, as well as a centralized listing of volunteer opportunities across the organization.

There’s much more to be discovered, we hope you take the time to view the amazing site Reaction has put together. We also welcome you to send us your feedback on the new brand!

As always, thank you very much for your continued support of Youth HQ. We look forward to a brighter future together.
