NOTICE TO YOUTH HQ FAMILY

In response to the Alberta Government’s recent health emergency announcement and introduction of additional restrictions due to COVID-19 Youth HQ will be temporarily suspending all in-person programs and services until further notice.

The 49th Street Youth Shelter will continue to remain open and available to all youth and families in crisis.

To our Boys and Girls Club and Bigs Family:

As of November 25th, 2020, we are suspending all in-person contact between our Community Based 1:1 Big Brothers Big Sister matches. We recognize many of you may have already completed our agency waivers and new COVID-19 guidelines for in-person outings within the last several months as part of our relaunch strategy. However, due to the announcement from our Chief Medical Officer and the Government of Alberta as of November 24, 2020, we believe that this is the best decision for the health of our families and volunteers to pause all in-person contact with one another at this time until further notice.

Boys and Girls Club programs will be going to virtual platforms to ensure continued engagement with our membership.  Program staff will be contacting youth and families with details. Access to Camp Alexo is also temporarily suspended.

We recommend that matches continue to use technology to communicate and stay in touch. Please connect with each other (Zoom, Google Meets, Skype, FaceTime, Phone, etc) to check in with each other as well as to discuss the current events.

We recognize that this is the holiday season and we are permitting individuals to drop off items at the door of the home provided they do not enter the home and follow all health guidelines of physical distancing, sanitization and mask-wearing.

Thank you for your support as we work together to ensure that all children, youth, staff and volunteers remain safe.
