Position: Kitchen Manager - Cooking and Healthy Living Programs

Position Details:

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Kitchen Manager will be responsible for running cooking and healthy snacks and choices programs for children and youth involved in afterschool and evening programs. This position is suited for an individual with a culinary arts degree or diploma. The main tasks and responsibilities will include:
1. Supervises meal preparation in accordance with Canada’s Food Guide;
2. Manage preparation of food for participants with allergies;
3. Ensure Alberta Health Services Regulations for Kitchen Facilities and food preparation are adhered to;
4. Outline and implement menu plans and program curriculums;
5. Maintain exemplary customer service skills with children, youth, and team mates;
6. Ensure safe operation of kitchen equipment;
7. Maintain consistent communication with the team;
8. Ensure facilities cleanliness are kept up to standard with current AHS and appropriate protocols;
9. Work with supervisor to  ensure program goals, dietary & nutrition needs are met;
10. Work within the outlined budget determined by Program Manager

Other duties:

Ensure children and youth are positively instructed during the program
Ensures that all food products are handled, stored, prepared and served safely in accordance with HACCP and company approved methods
Ensure that the quality of all food and beverage products are of high quality
Work well with children and youth and develop a “Team” atmosphere
Have a complete understanding of WHMIS, Food Safety, and First Aid
Operate kitchen equipment in a safe manner

Qualifications:

Recommended 3 years of kitchen or catering experience in Food Service Industry with experience supervising staff
Valid Standard First Aid with CPR and Advanced Food Safe certificates
Interprovincial Red Seal Certification or higher is an asset, but not required
Positive attitude and outgoing personality are essential
Emotional maturity, able to handle stress and demonstrates professionalism
Be able to build collaborative relationships
Must be neat, professional and well-groomed
Must be dedicated to exceptional external and internal guest service
Proven decision making ability
Proficient at finding creative solutions
Fluent and literate in the English language
Valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle in order to implement programs throughout Central Alberta

Salary Range:

$16.50-18.50 per hour
