Position: Kitchen Manager

Position Details:

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Kitchen Manager will be responsible for the day to day supervision of meals for up to 110 children, youth, volunteers and staff each week. This position is suited for an individual with a culinary arts degree or diploma. The main tasks and responsibilities will include:
1. Supervises meal preparation in accordance with Canada’s Food Guide;
2. Manage preparation of food for participants with allergies;
3. Ensure Alberta Health Services Regulations for Kitchen Facilities and food preparation are adhered to;
4. Outline and implement menu plans;
5. Maintain exemplary customer service skills with campers and staff;
6. Ensure safe operation of kitchen equipment;
7. Maintain consistent communication with the camp team;
8. Ensure facilities cleanliness are kept up to standard with current AHS and appropriate protocols;
9. Work with Kitchen Consultant to lan menus and ensure dietary & nutrition needs are met;
10. Work within the outlined budget determined by Program Manager and Kitchen Consultant

Other duties:

Ensures that the kitchen/freezers/coolers are kept in an organized manner
Ensure that station opening and closing procedures are carried out to standard
Ensures that all food products are handled, stored, prepared and served safely in accordance with HACCP and company approved methods
Ensure that the quality of all food and beverage products are of the highest quality
Work well with Camp staff helping to create a “Team” atmosphere
Has a complete understanding of WHMIS, Food Safety, and First Aid
Operate kitchen equipment in a safe manner
Must be able to list a minimum of 50lbs & wear closed toe, non-slip footwear at all times when on shift


Recommended 3 years of kitchen or catering experience in Food Service Industry with experience supervising staff
Valid Standard First Aid with CPR and Advanced Food Safe certificates
Interprovincial Red Seal Certification or higher is an asset, but not required
Positive attitude and outgoing personality are essential
Emotional maturity, able to handle stress and demonstrates professionalism
Be able to build collaborative relationships
Must be neat, professional and well-groomed
Must be dedicated to exceptional external and internal guest service
Proven decision making ability
Proficient at finding creative solutions
Fluent and literate in the English language


$22.50 per hour
Room and Board provided at NO COST TO YOU
