Position: Youth Worker(s)
Organization: 49th Street Youth Shelter
This position is shift work, working directly in the shelter with youth at risk who are experiencing homelessness. In addition, you will be assisting youth and families in family reunification when possible. We are looking individuals who are deeply committed to making a difference in a youth’s life.
Complete client intakes, individual reports and discharges. Assess client’s needs and/or eligibility for specific services; provide crisis intervention and resolve conflict situations; supervise activities of clients; liaise with social services/community agencies and health care providers involved with clients. Maintain program statistics for evaluation and research.
Administrative and office duties, general housekeeping/ food preparation and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Completion of High School, Post Secondary diploma or degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field of Human Services and/or related experience.
Current Criminal Record check (Abstract) and Child Welfare Intervention Check as well as a current CPR and Standard First Aide Certificate prior to hire.
Must be familiar with the Canada Accreditation Council Standards (CAC) and have solid knowledge and experience in the preparation of program accreditation, referencing policy vs current CAC standards.
