Youth HQ was one of five recipients of a joint service project courtesy of various service clubs in Red Deer. On Thursday, September 15, Youth HQ was able to have some volunteers from Rotary East & Sunrise, Kiwanis, Optimist Club of Red Deer, Piper Creek Optimist Club, Red Deer Lions Club, Red Deer Kinsmen, and Red Deer Kinette Club complete a service project. The project chosen was to have the volunteers complete some maintenance and upkeep at Camp Alexo.
Staining a deck, clearing away some overgrown brush, and cleaning out a fire pit were the projects these helpful volunteers completed. As those were finished, the volunteers painted flowerboxes before breaking for lunch and then being given tours of the camp by the Youth HQ team.

These services came as a result of these various groups’ international branches meeting in December to discuss how their various chapters around the world could come together and provide services for their respective communities. Other organizations in Red Deer that received services during the week of September 11-17 include The Mustard Seed, The Golden Circle, The Red Deer Food Bank, and The Outreach Centre.

Youth HQ extends a heartfelt thank you to each and every volunteer who helped complete these tasks at Camp Alexo, as well as to their respective organizations for their generous support and consideration.
