Raise the Grade, an educational program of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, is coming to Red Deer. Supported by RBC Future Launch, Boys & Girls Club of Red Deer and District continues their focus on providing young people the opportunities to develop their potential with their newest initiative based out of our Youth HQ facility.

Raise the Grade helps youth discover their interests, shape career goals, and plan for the future. Through Raise the Grade, youth aged 14-18 will receive virtual and in-person mentoring through interactive after-school programming that allows young people to explore their personal interests, receive homework support, connect with mentors and/or tutors, interact with peers, increase their digital literacy, and plan for post-secondary education. This multi-faceted education program increases academic skills, high school graduation rates, and access to post-secondary education for youth.

“Through this program to our repertoire, we’ve not only been able to add a technology centre to enhance our ability to serve youth, but we’re able to better support youth who may not have the tutoring or mentorship support within their existing support network,” said Rob Lewis, Executive Director at Youth HQ.

The program will launch at the beginning of October, running virtually on Mondays with in-person mentoring and tutoring supports in the brand new technology centre available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm-6:00pm. The program has committed to supporting at least 25 youth this school year.
