The Counselor in Training Program helps teens become active leaders in their community and club. Participants will complete 2 weekend training sessions (One in Town, and the other at Camp Alexo) where they will learn and develop skills necessary for supporting children within a summer camp program before signing up to volunteer as Counselors at Alexo throughout the summer.

The CIT program is designed to give youth the skills they need to successfully work with younger children in a camp setting. With an emphasis on hands on learning, youth will learn conflict resolutions skills; problem solving skills; and leadership skills.
After the training sessions, CIT’s will attend Camp Alexo for 2-3 weeks as a volunteer counselor where they will be able to put those skills to work, assisting in implementing a program for children aged 7-17. Youth will be mentored by an experienced staff team and receive daily feedback on their progress. The skills learned in this course will useful among all aspects of their development.
COST $30.00 (For Program Materials)
This will be the first year that we will be completing the training on 2 weekends only. It is essential that participants make themselves available for the program training weekends as this is a prerequisite for volunteering throughout the summer.
Youth MUST submit a Criminal Record Check and complete an enrollment interview to partake in the program. You do not have to complete one, if their is a copy on your file within the past 3 years.
